The Al-electric self-supporting XLPE insulated ABC overhead
power cables are designed for aerialpower lines and room-entrance wires withAC rated voltage 1kV and below.
Construction
XLPE/HDPE insulated power conductors of Aluminium (Neutral conductor and street lighting conductor if andwhen necessary) are laid together (twisted) around a high tensile standard andgalvanized steel (Aluminium Alloy may be used) insulated or bare messenger wireto form the Aerial Bunched Cable. This assembly is directly strung on todistribution pole/towers by means of standard hardware available in the marketbut care shall be taken to render the messenger wire completely insulated fromEarthing at any point of distribution in case of HT ABC.
The XLPE(Cross-linked Polyethylene) insulation is black in colour and is stabilizedagainst deterioration caused by exposure to direct sunlight and ultravioletradiation. XLPE is cross-linkable low-density polyethylene, which is made thermoset by special formulation from base polymer of thermoplastic low-densitypolyethylene. XLPE combines the best electrical properties of LDPE and superiorthermo mechanical properties.

Operating features
Rated voltage Uo/U is 0.6/1kV
Max.Continuous permissive working temperature of conductor: PVCinsulation should be not more than 70 °C, and XPLE insulation should be not more than 90°C .
The installation temperature of cable should be not less than -20°C
When overall diameter of cable(D)is less than 25mm,per missive bendingradius of cable should be not less than 4D.When overalldiameter(D)of cable isequal to and above 25mm,permissive bending radius of cable should be notlessthan 6D.
